A very Burberry Christmas

One of the most iconic fashion brands on the planet – Burberry has released their seasonal Winter advert in time for Christmas. Titled Close Your Eyes and Think of Christmas”, the ad features a star-studded line-up of actors, rappers, and supermodels.

Kristin Scott Thomas, Matt Smith, Naomi Campbell and her mother Valerie Morris-Campbell, and M.I.A are featured in the gothic advert which consists of various tableaus portraying British daily life, from the unpredictable weather, delayed trains and family feasts, all captured through the creative eye of British artist and photographer Juno Calypso.

“I love Christmas, I’ve always loved Christmas. I love the anticipation, I love the build-up, I love the parties, I love the day” says Smith – who returns for a follow-up year to his previous Burberry Christmas advert which saw him star alongside model, singer and actress Cara Delevingne.

“Everything was very stylish, very inventive; it felt a bit like a strange, fashionable, Christmas last supper, and I had a lovely time on set. I got to hang out with Kristin Scott Thomas, who is just a total dream, and it was a pleasure also to meet M.I.A and to be back on set for Burberry.”

“I’m actually quite entertained by the fact that I am in a Christmas campaign,” M.I.A stated. “I never really thought that M.I.A was Christmassy. But I do like red and green – those are my favourite colours!” Scott Thomas then added: “It is an experience I will remember for a long time – it’s not every day you shoot a Christmas scene in a heatwave!”

Also featured in the advert is our personal favourite star – Winnie the Italian Greyhound, who can be seen lying under the table. The camera focuses on Winnie as he is sat completely still, and slowly pans downwards before transitioning to the next frame of the tableau.
